Dear Kfarsghabi Relatives and Friends,

I hope this letter finds you all safe and well. I have the great honour of greeting you as President of the Australian Kfarsghab Association for 2021/22.

I would like to thank Louis Hanna and his committee for their guidance and dedication over the past 2 years. During this difficult time, AKA hosted highly successful Covid – Safe events and this newly elected committee will continue on a similar path. We have a very passionate and motivated committee who are currently organising some exciting new functions as well as assisting with the Stage 2 renovation works of our Clubhouse.

Following on from our recent Stage 1 works, the Stage 2 renovations include a completely new commercial kitchen paired with a coolroom, a newly added disabled toilet, upgrading and extending of the men’s toilets and a new kitchenette in the front building. It is expected that the Stage 2 renovations will be completed by Easter 2022. The Clubhouse will be made available for our community to host private functions and we expect to have full details for hiring of the venue including rates shortly. We have always received tremendous support from the community, and we continue to welcome all help in any form.

We are blessed to be living in a great country like Australia, even though we have had our own challenges during the Covid pandemic. Our thoughts and prayers do go out to those not so fortunate, most especially our relatives in Lebanon. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I announce The 135 year Gala Ball Function which will be held at ‘The Waterview’ Bicentennial Dr. Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday 8th October 2022 with all proceeds going to our Village in Lebanon.

AKA will kick off Season 3 of its highly successful touch football competition on Monday December 6th. There will be scheduled Division 1 matches as well as Division 2 trials matches, however the aim will be to have a casual Christmas Catchup under lights and play fun games of footy so please bring the family along as Santa & Dora will attend. The fun starts at 6.00pm.

Full credit goes to our previous Youngerset President, Archie Moussa and his enthusiastic team. They should all be very pleased with their achievements, especially during the past two years. This newly elected committee led by Tannous Coorey have made a smooth transition and are ready for a big year ahead. We are looking forward to working with them and our future has never looked brighter.

If you have any questions with respect to AKA, please feel free to contact me. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and safe and prosperous New Year.

Warm Regards,

Joshua Essey
AKA President
